Here\u2019s a brief timeline:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>April 2020:<\/strong> Albania enters full lockdown, like much of the world.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>June 2020:<\/strong> The country exits lockdown but remains closed to tourists.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>January 2021:<\/strong> As one of Europe\u2019s poorest nations, Albania decides it cannot afford to lose another tourist season and opts to largely ignore COVID-19.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/travel-4-fun.com\/albania\/directs-flights-to-albania\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"4189\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Albania reopens to tourists<\/strong> \u2014 flights  begin arriving.<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All entry restrictions were lifted \u2014 no vaccines, no PCR tests, no quarantine \u2014 as if COVID-19 had never happened.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Goal:<\/strong> Save the 2021 tourist season.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the <strong>EU<\/strong>, which Albania hopes to join as a candidate country, opposed this approach. COVID-19 has become more like a <strong>seasonal illness<\/strong>. In this small country, dozens of cases are recorded daily, but <strong>life goes on as usual<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Important note:<\/strong><\/p>\n<cite>While healthcare is essentially free for Albanians, it is quite expensive for foreigners. It is essential to have insurance that covers COVID-19 treatment. That\u2019s typical for Albania. Payment in <strong>euros accepted everywhere<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Most expensive:<\/strong> American and German clinics \u2014 <strong>\u20ac55 to \u20ac75<\/strong>, depending on city and clinic.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Local private clinics in Tirana:<\/strong> <strong>\u20ac35\u201340<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tip:<\/strong> I\u2019ve marked some clinics on my <strong>Travel Map<\/strong> that offer tests for \u20ac35\u201340 within 4\u20135 hours. Everyone has their reasons, but for those concerned about microchips \u2014 don\u2019t worry, I even put a magnet to my arm and it didn\u2019t stick! So you\u2019ll be fine \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>In conclusion:<\/strong><br>COVID-19 <strong>still exists in Albania<\/strong>, but <strong>does not affect travel in any way<\/strong>. No restrictions.
